01. Anyone who looks at this entry has to post this meme and their current wallpaper at their LiveJournal.
02. Explain in five sentences why you're using that wallpaper.
03. Don't change your wallpaper before doing this. The point is to see what you had on.

The background was made by
b_hallward, if I remember correctly. This one is too pale and bright to be comfortable on a full-sized screen, but on a netbook it works really well. I like the way the background fades in and out depending on what angle you view the screen from.
I normally find one background I like and keep it indefinitely, same with icons. Or for a couple of years, at least, by which time I am tired of the thing but too much in the habit of seeing it to search for something better.

Thank god I'm not the only one who sticks to one wallpaper for months or years, though--I was beginning to think it was sort of freakish, since everyone else seems to switch so often. (I once ran across a guy who wrote little program to change his every couple of minutes, which seems like it'd be awfully disorienting....)

Before that I did a seasonal rotation, with my own close-up photos of things like ice formations on windows for winter, and melting ice-and-snow pools with plants growing inside them for spring, and like that. They'd look great on this much-better screen, too, but somehow this wallpaper keeps winning.
